Malaysia Expands Fuel Subsidies and Raises School Maintenance Funding

Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim announced six cost-of-living measures taking effect September 1, including raising monthly BUDI95 fuel eligibility from 200 to 300 litres for more than 16 million users. Eligible diesel pickup and four-wheel-drive owners will receive up to 400 litres monthly. Malaysia will raise 2027 school-maintenance funding by 50%, from RM1 billion to RM1.5 billion, and provide RM1 billion to digitalise records and improve connectivity at 150 hospitals and more than 2,000 clinics. The package also raises the e-Invoice exemption threshold to RM3 million in annual sales and expands microfinance by RM1 billion.
