Germany Says Gas Storage Filling Accelerates as LNG Conditions Improve

Germany's Economy Ministry said gas operators had injected significant volumes in recent days, lifting storage sites to 51.64% full. A ministry spokesperson said an improved winter-summer price spread had reduced an economic obstacle to filling, while Asia's easing heatwave had weakened competition for liquefied natural gas cargoes. Germany aims to reach 70% storage by the beginning of November. Officials said winter supply security also depends on LNG terminals and the capacity to increase imports from western Europe. The government said the market was functioning and continued to monitor the situation.
