Colombia’s Defense Ministry said one civilian was killed and 11 people were injured, including nine civilians and two police officers, when a taxi carrying explosives detonated outside the Los Patios police station near Cúcuta late Monday. President Abelardo de la Espriella, Defense Minister Jorge Mora and senior military and police commanders then held an extraordinary security council in Norte de Santander. The armed-forces commander said the council strengthened interagency coordination and defined forceful actions against armed groups in the border department. Officials had not publicly identified the group responsible for the bombing.
