Israeli Panel Recommends Shin Bet Guards for Eisenkot Through Election Day

Israel’s Advisory Committee for Personal Security recommended Shin Bet protection for Yashar leader and prime-ministerial candidate Gadi Eisenkot through the October 27 election. The Ministerial Committee on Shin Bet Affairs must still approve the recommendation, while Yair Golan’s request will be considered separately. The review followed new warnings and material submitted by Eisenkot’s team and reverses the position Shin Bet chief David Zini conveyed about a week earlier, when he said no concrete threat intelligence required a state detail. Yashar says its privately funded protection lacks the intelligence access needed to assess threats.
