Swedish Preliminary Count Gives Opposition 176-173 Parliamentary Edge

Sweden’s municipal election boards completed collection counting for the Riksdag, giving the opposition Social Democrats, Left, Greens and Centre parties 176 seats against 173 for the Tidö parties. The Election Authority reported preliminary turnout of 84.8%, with the Social Democrats on 99 seats, Centre 25, Greens 22 and Left 30. The Moderates won 70, Sweden Democrats 62, Christian Democrats 22 and Liberals 19. County boards are now rechecking every ballot, and corrections remain possible before the authority formally establishes the result, normally about a week after election day.
