Most Israeli Desalination Plants Shut Again as Seawater Turbidity Rises
Most of Israel’s desalination plants shut again Tuesday morning after a brief overnight restart, as authorities said Mediterranean seawater turbidity had risen sharply. The Water Authority and Energy and Infrastructure Ministry told municipalities to reduce irrigation, agricultural water use and other public consumption. Household supply was expected to continue, with operations centers handling localized disruptions. Walla and Israel Hayom reported that about 20,000 dunams of vegetable crops in Ramat Negev were at risk, while Israel Hayom said only one desalination plant remained operating.
