India and Uzbekistan Elevate Ties, Sign 11 Agreements and Set $5 Billion Trade Goal

India and Uzbekistan elevated their 15-year strategic partnership to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership during talks between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Shavkat Mirziyoyev in Tashkent. The governments adopted 11 documents covering economic dialogue, higher education, traditional medicine, environmental protection, tourism, geology, archives and cultural exchanges. They set a bilateral trade target of $5 billion by 2030, up from $1.3 billion in 2025, when trade rose 33%. India also announced a $1 million grant for Aral Sea rehabilitation and 100 scholarships for Hindi study, while both sides agreed to a foreign-minister-led implementation mechanism.
