Senior defence-policy officials from Israel, Greece and Cyprus met in Athens on November 5 to discuss closer cooperation in defence industries, innovation and maritime security. The ministries said the talks also covered protecting vital sea lanes and critical infrastructure, alongside disaster preparedness, response and civil protection. According to the joint statement, participants explored partnerships between their defence industries, including opportunities for joint development, production and technological collaboration. They also discussed establishing a trilateral defence industrial working group. The proposals were presented as ways to strengthen interoperability, collective capabilities and the industrial foundations of the three countries' security partnership. The ministries reaffirmed their “shared commitment to peace, stability, security and prosperity.” They agreed to strengthen coordination against emerging threats, naming terrorism, the spread of advanced weapons and destabilizing activity by state and non-state actors. Professional exchanges, identification of joint initiatives and regular dialogue were among the avenues considered. The statement also expressed support for Cyprus's sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity, freedom of navigation and energy cooperation. The ministries linked the talks to the leaders' summit held in Jerusalem on December 22, 2025. They said its joint declaration provided a basis for further trilateral cooperation and invited engagement by like-minded partners.
