Israeli Music Showcase Organizers Expect Foreign Attendance to Halve

Courtroom-sketch editorial illustration of two seated violinists reading sheet music at an archival May 2016 street concert in Tel Aviv, rendered in warm ochre and slate-blue pastel strokes. Contextual music scene, not a depiction of the November 2026 International Music Showcase.

Organizers of Israel's International Music Showcase Festival expect around 30 foreign music industry professionals this year, compared with 60 last year. Artistic director Hadas Vanunu attributes the decline to reluctance to engage with Israeli musicians and funding cuts that limit invitations. Festival director Atcha Bar also points to higher airfares requiring organizer support. The 17th edition is scheduled for November 17–22, 2026, in Jerusalem and Tel Aviv, with 50 performances connecting Israeli musicians with festival directors, producers and booking agents.
