Tel Hai Opens Academic Year as Kiryat Shmona–Tel Hai University

Courtroom-sketch editorial illustration of an archival April 2018 portrait of Benjamin Netanyahu in a dark suit and blue tie beside a partial Israeli flag, rendered in warm ochre and slate-blue pastel strokes. Contextual portrait, not a depiction of the October 2026 university opening or campus.

Kiryat Shmona–Tel Hai University opened its academic year on October 20, marking Tel Hai College’s transition to university status. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu attended with Education Minister Yoav Kisch and Minister Ze’ev Elkin, meeting university management, faculty and students. The government said the initiative is accompanied by NIS 694 million in government investment to strengthen higher education, research and employment in the Galilee. The program includes expanded campus and research infrastructure, faculty recruitment and dedicated scholarships, including full funding for engineering studies and master’s degrees with a science thesis.
