Military police detained dozens of Chabad yeshiva students at Ben Gurion Airport on Tuesday after they returned from a year of religious study at the movement's headquarters in Brooklyn, New York. The detentions concerned unresolved military-service status, and the students were later transferred to the IDF induction center at Tel Hashomer. Military officials said students willing to enlist could receive suspended disciplinary sentences, while those refusing could face prison. The IDF said those required to enlist would face proceedings under the law. Chabad said its rabbinical court was working with authorities and families to resolve their status and ensure humane treatment.
