Courtroom-sketch editorial illustration of an archival July 2006 exterior view of the New World supermarket in Warkworth, New Zealand, with its glass entrance and parked-car forecourt, rendered in warm ochre and slate-blue pastel strokes; contextual store image, not a depiction of the October 2026 pricing disruption.

Foodstuffs said a technical error prevented some promotional prices from being applied at its North Island supermarkets on Monday, prompting temporary New World closures in Takapuna and central Wellington. The cooperative said the problem had been resolved at PAK’nSAVE and Four Square, while teams worked to restore affected New World promotions. It promised refunds of the full amount paid for overcharged products, with automatic refunds for affected Club+ customers who scanned their cards. Other customers who believe they were overcharged can contact or visit the store where they shopped.
