Bauchi State police disclosed on Monday that 17 suspects had been arrested after an attack linked to a witchcraft accusation in Gobirawa Village, Alkaleri, Nigeria. Police spokesperson Nafiu Habib said the October 18 attack injured a 60-year-old man and his 30-year-old son, who had been accused of causing another man’s death through witchcraft. Police said the attackers carried machetes and sticks, damaged two family motorcycles, and included three other suspects still at large. Commissioner Sani-Omolori Aliyu directed the case’s transfer to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Bauchi for further investigation and pursuit of the fleeing suspects.
