Yashar! leader and former IDF chief Gadi Eisenkot pledged on October 15 that Hamas would no longer govern Gaza within 18 months of his taking office as prime minister. Speaking near the Gaza border ahead of Israel's October 27 election, he said his government would seek to destroy Hamas's military wing through President Donald Trump's framework or military and operational action. Eisenkot said the Netanyahu government had accepted Trump's framework and criticized its handling of the war. Likud challenged his ability to deliver, invoking Mansour Abbas and Ahmad Tibi as alleged political partners.
