Israel's Defense Ministry said it signed an agreement with the U.S. Pentagon to procure 12 Boeing-manufactured Apache attack helicopters for the IDF. Following government approval on October 14, ministry Director General Amir Baram instructed its mission to the United States to sign the agreement. The helicopters will be the Echo variant, which the ministry described as the newest and most advanced model, with delivery scheduled for the beginning of the next decade. Israeli and American officials tailored the agreement to Israel's needs; the ministry's U.S. mission and Budget Department led its formulation and implementation framework.
