A 15-year-old boy was killed and many others were injured in an explosion during a school hiking trip in northern Israel on October 12. Students and teachers from ORT Yeshiva High School in Ma’alot-Tarshiha were near Mitzpe Pe’er on Ramim Ridge, between Kibbutz Manara and Kibbutz Yiftah, on the first day of their annual Israel National Trail trip. Police said unexploded ordnance was suspected, with its origin and the circumstances of the blast under investigation. Officers and bomb technicians secured the area. Israeli soldiers assisted the rescue response, and military helicopters were dispatched to the scene.
