IDF Says It Struck Syrian Operative Planning Iran-Directed Attacks

The IDF said it carried out an airstrike earlier on October 9 near the Syria-Lebanon border against Yusuf Ali al-Hassoun, a Syrian operative it described as working under Iranian direction. According to the military, he advanced attack plans targeting Israeli civilians and IDF troops operating in southern Syria. It said his plans over the preceding year included explosive drones and rockets against those forces, and that the plans were thwarted. The announcement did not say whether he was killed. The IDF also reiterated its commitment to the Israel-Lebanon agreement.
