The Veracruz state government confirmed that Mexican federal lawmaker Zenyazen Escobar García was found dead Friday in La Gloria, a locality in the municipality of Puente Nacional. State Government Secretary Ricardo Ahued Bardahuil said the Veracruz Attorney General’s Office went to the scene to conduct investigative steps and forensic examinations, and opened a case file to establish the circumstances. Ahued said Mexico’s federal Attorney General’s Office will take over the case to reinforce the investigation and pursue every line needed to determine precisely what happened; the official release did not state a cause or manner of death.
