Venezuela Says Main Airport Restored 25% of Operations in Temporary Terminals

Venezuela’s transport minister Francisco Garcés said temporary terminals at Maiquetía’s Simón Bolívar International Airport restored 25% of pre-earthquake air operations as national and international service resumed Tuesday. The facilities were built in 35 days after earthquake damage and can simultaneously handle 720 international and 496 domestic passengers. Garcés said the infrastructure covers more than 10,000 square metres and includes security systems, radar, radio-navigation aids and operational aircraft stands. The government targets 40% of former capacity within two months and 60% by year-end.
