Met with Prime Minister of Bhutan, Mr. Dasho Tshering Tobgay, in Thimphu on September 1, on the sidelines of the Global Conscious Food Systems Summit. We discussed strengthening Sri Lanka–Bhutan relations and expanding cooperation in education, health, trade, tourism and air connectivity, while also exchanging views on sustainable development, good governance, climate action and environmental protection.
Addressing the High-Level Panel Discussion on “Rising to the Moment: Igniting Consciousness to Address the Polycrisis” at the Global Conscious Food Systems Summit in Bhutan today, I emphasised the need to move beyond awareness towards collective action, with responsibility translated into measurable results. Building resilient, inclusive, sustainable and equitable food systems requires connecting climate action, agricultural innovation, responsible consumption, food waste reduction, support for farmers and equitable access to nutrition, while strengthening international cooperation and access to climate finance and technology. #bhutan
