U.S. forces struck two Iranian rocket launchers on Larak Island in the Strait of Hormuz on Sunday after officials said Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps personnel were preparing rockets carrying sea mines. The IRGC acknowledged deaths and injuries among fighters and civilians, while an initial Iranian report said two people were killed and two wounded. Iran said the attack would be answered. Several Iranian ballistic missiles were later launched toward a U.S. base in Jordan, but a U.S. official reported no impacts, damage or casualties; the strike was the first known U.S. attack inside Iran in about a month.
