Germany's consumer-climate indicator rose 2.8 points to -26.6 for September after the previous month was revised to -29.4, the Nuremberg Institute for Market Decisions said. Income expectations climbed 16.2 points to 1.7, their highest in six months, while economic expectations posted a fourth consecutive rise to -3.9. Willingness to buy remained near historic lows at -9.8, and willingness to save slipped to 15.5 but stayed high. NIM said the survey uses about 2,000 interviews and cautioned that the measures reflect sentiment rather than actual purchasing, saving or income behavior.
