Sector 2 troops from Operation FANSAN YAMMA rescued 14 kidnapped civilians near Magazu village in Zamfara State’s Tsafe area on August 26 after acting on intelligence, the military said. The troops encountered armed men attempting to abduct civilians, including motorists, and exchanged fire before the attackers abandoned their vehicle and fled into surrounding bush. A subsequent search found and freed the 14 victims. One had gunshot wounds and was evacuated to General Hospital, Tsafe, while the military reported no troop casualties.
