Morocco’s PAM Denies Pressuring RNI Lawmakers to Defect

Morocco’s Authenticity and Modernity Party denied allegations by its governing-coalition partner, the National Rally of Independents, that it pressured RNI lawmakers and elected officials to defect. PAM said recruitment relies on dialogue, persuasion and freedom of political affiliation, and that coercion would be unlawful and unethical. It countered that the RNI nominated more than 17 lawmakers from five parties in the 2021 legislative election, including six former PAM lawmakers. The party said membership remains open to people who freely support its political project and pledged to follow constitutional and legal rules.
