MK Party Expels Two MPs and Seeks Their Removal From Parliament

South Africa's MK Party expelled Khanyisile Litchfield-Tshabalala and Pumlani Kubukeli with immediate effect and terminated their memberships. The party said its secretary-general had written to National Assembly Speaker Thoko Didiza to begin the process of removing them as lawmakers. It cited conduct detrimental to its name, reputation, integrity and interests, and harmful to party unity and discipline, but did not specify the acts involved. Litchfield-Tshabalala plays a leading role on Parliament's committee examining President Cyril Ramaphosa's conduct, while Kubukeli leads the party in the Eastern Cape and its military-veterans association.
