Israel to Open First Resident Embassy in Slovenia During Sa’ar Visit

Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar was due in Ljubljana on September 9 for a two-day visit to inaugurate Israel’s first resident embassy in Slovenia. Slovenian Foreign Minister Tone Kajzer was to host him, and the ministers planned to sign a memorandum on cultural cooperation. Sa’ar traveled with an Israeli business delegation intended to strengthen economic ties. Israel and Slovenia established diplomatic relations in 1992, but Israel had previously used a non-resident ambassador. Ruth Cohen-Dar was appointed resident ambassador, and the Ljubljana mission would be Israel’s fifth embassy opening in two years.
