As a fellow north London MP it has been a privilege to stand shoulder to shoulder with my friend Keir across countless campaigns. Through difficult times, both in and out of government, I will never forget the warmth shared between our families, the times he has been there for mine, and the sense of duty which animated his politics. Keir brought Labour back into power after 14 long years in the political wilderness and for that he deserves enormous credit. In government, faced with a country wracked by austerity and left in financial ruin, he brought stability to the economy and steadied our public services. He delivered one of the most significant overhauls of renters’ and workers’ rights in a generation, drove record investments in affordable housing, and restored Britain’s standing in the world. That is his legacy, and I thank him for everything he has done for our movement. I look forward to doing my all to fight this by-election and keep Holborn and St Pancras Labour. 🌹
