Nepal’s National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority put preliminary damage from the Bhotekoshi flood at NPR 387.54 billion. The authority estimated NPR 7.95 billion would be needed over four months for early recovery and initial rehabilitation. Assessed sectors include homes and settlements, roads and bridges, health, education, agriculture, energy, banking and telecommunications. Executive chief Dr. Dharmaraj Upreti said detailed damage and post-disaster needs assessments were continuing alongside search, rescue and relief operations. Authorities also reported rescuing 114 people from northern border areas and at least 20 others elsewhere on September 3.
