Secret Harbour Voters Cast Ballots in 16-Candidate Western Australia By-Election

Voting opened Saturday in Western Australia’s Secret Harbour by-election, with 16 candidates contesting the Legislative Assembly seat vacated by former member Paul Papalia. The Western Australian Electoral Commission said polling runs from 8am to 6pm AWST and is compulsory for the district’s 36,407 enrolled voters. Its media hub recorded 11,052 early in-person votes and 5,223 returned postal ballots before election day. Postal ballots lodged by polling close may arrive until 9am on September 3, so election-night figures will remain indicative until eligible postal votes are counted.
