Nepal's government said rescuers reached the upper section of the Upper Trishuli 3A hydropower tunnel after the Bhotekoshi flood. The team drilled a small opening into the structure and began supplying air inside, where engineers and workers were believed trapped. Home Minister Sudhan Gurung said excavation would begin next before a rescue team entered the tunnel. The government had sought specialized personnel from India and China because of the difficult terrain, while security personnel and technical teams intensified operations from Saturday noon.
