Israeli authorities seized five vehicles, about 96,000 shekels in cash and gold jewelry during raids on homes in East Jerusalem, according to the Defense Ministry. The ministry said its counter-terror-finance bureau, Jerusalem District police and Border Police carried out the operation against prisoners and relatives released in hostage deals who allegedly continued receiving Palestinian Authority payments. The property, valued collectively in the hundreds of thousands of shekels, was confiscated under orders issued by Defense Minister Israel Katz. The ministry said the operation was coordinated with Israel’s Shin Bet security service and police.
