UK Allows SCALP Missile Data Release for Assembly Lines in Ukraine

The United Kingdom agreed to let defence company MBDA release classified information about British components in the SCALP long-range missile so France and Ukraine can pursue local assembly lines in Ukraine, Prime Minister Andy Burnham's office announced on August 24. SCALP is the French version of the British Storm Shadow system and incorporates shared technology from both countries. Burnham disclosed the decision as he arrived in Kyiv for his first overseas visit as prime minister, coinciding with Ukraine's 35th Independence Day. He was due to meet President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and co-chair a meeting of the Coalition of the Willing with other European leaders.
