Typhoon Narra Floods Force 54,000 People From Homes in Guangxi

Torrential rain from Typhoon Narra affected 61,000 people across China's Guangxi region and forced 54,000 from their homes, according to regional authorities. Of those displaced, 8,087 were moved into centralized emergency shelters as several rivers rose above warning levels and parts of Fangchenggang and Chongzuo flooded. Regional leaders activated emergency operations and ordered officials to prioritize evacuations, rescue work and supplies for affected communities. Authorities also called for closer monitoring of reservoirs, landslide risks and low-lying areas while the slow-moving storm continued to bring heavy rain.
