Restored Tlos Ancient Theater in Türkiye Lit Entirely by Solar Power

The ancient theater at Tlos, a Lycian city in the Seydikemer district of Türkiye's Muğla province, has been restored to its original form and is now lit entirely by a solar energy system. Muğla Governor İdris Akbıyık said the solar installation serves the roughly 8,500 capacity theater and that the site is an important cultural tourism asset for the region. Excavation and restoration ran for 12 months under Prof. Dr. Taner Korkut of Akdeniz University's archaeology department. The governorship supported work at 28 ancient cities last year, when Akbıyık said 1.3 million people visited Muğla's archaeological sites. The lighting opens the theater to night visits and concerts.
