Humanoid Robots Beat Human 100m, High Jump and 400m World Records in Beijing

A humanoid robot ran the 100 metres in 9.39 seconds on the opening day of the second World Humanoid Robot Games in Beijing, inside Usain Bolt's human world record of 9.58 seconds, and another cleared 2.88 metres in the standing high jump, past Javier Sotomayor's 2.45-metre mark. On Sunday the Beijing Humanoid Robot Innovation Center's Tiangong Ultra took the games' first gold medal, winning the 400 metres in 38.15 seconds against Wayde van Niekerk's 43.03-second human record. The organizers say more than 2,000 robots from over 600 teams are competing at the National Speed Skating Oval, the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics venue, through Wednesday.
