First 20 U.S. Third-Country Deportees Arrive in Liberia Under 1,200-Person Deal

Twenty people deported by the United States arrived at Roberts International Airport outside Monrovia on August 20, the first transfer under Liberia's agreement to receive up to 1,200 non-Liberians over one year. Liberia says the arrangement may include nationals from Africa, North America, South America and the Caribbean. The transferees may seek asylum in Liberia or choose to leave for another country.
